THE HAYES FAMILY OF MCGEE

Thank you for sending me the original birth announcement of my grandfather, Lee Earl Hayes. I only have one picture of the Oliver Newton Hayes family when they were living McGee. The date we came up with is 1906. Edna Mae, the baby in the picture, was born in the spring of 1905. She looks to be around a year old. My grandfather was their next child to be born and he was born in Dec. 1906.
The family members in the picture are:
Back row-Arther Paul Hayes, Mary Zealyer Hayes
Middle row- Fannie Fay Hayes, Jesse Wilson Hayes, William Wiley Hayes (father of O.N. Hayes), Oliver Newton (Dock) Hayes, Anice Rebecca Hayes, Tina Pearl Hayes O.N. is holding Jasper (Bill) Hayes, Anice is holding Edna Mae.
William Wiley Hayes also had two other sons living close to McGee at that time. A. P. (Albert Pitner) Hayes who repaired clocks, guns, and watches. I saw his ad in one of the Chickasaw News that is posted. A. P. had a son, W.T. Hayes who owned a dry goods store in McGee. I noticed his name in the Chickasaw News several times. William Wiley's other son was Rev. Hendrix Hayes, and his wife was Edna Era.
Most of the family were farmers. Do not know when the family moved from Baxter County, AR. to McGee. Also do not know how long the lived in the McGee-Stratford area.
The picture was sent to our family several years ago from Richard Jones, a grandson of W. T. ( William Terrell) Hayes. Mr. Jones has a extensive site with pictures of the Hayes family. There is a picture of Rev. Hendrix Hayes and his family in 1906 while living in McGee. Here is his web-site:
Thank you again,
Pam Palone
